Monthly Highlights 2025
July - From Crash to Camp to Consistency
July was a month of rebuilding—physically, mentally, and in training. It started in the aftermath of a crash in late June, which left me injured and forced to hit pause on my usual training rhythm. Those first few weeks were tough. My body wasn’t ready for much, and I had to accept a lower training volume while I focused on recovery. It’s never easy being sidelined, especially when you’re used to structure and momentum, but I knew that rushing back would only delay the comeback.
As the days passed and my body allowed it, I slowly eased back into sessions. It wasn’t glamorous—short, low-intensity efforts, patience, and a lot of listening to how I was feeling. But every small step counted. The goal was never to jump straight back to where I was, but to build back carefully.
Midway through the month, I took part in a Next Generation Transition Camp. It was one of the highlights of July. The camp was intense—not just physically, but in terms of lifestyle and learning. We were immersed in what life could look like at university: the structure, the training load, the independence, and the challenge of balancing everything. It was eye-opening, demanding, and enjoyable experience. Being around other athletes, pushing each other, and getting a taste of that next step in my journey gave me a lot to reflect on.
By the final week of July, I was back to full volume in training. It felt good to be building again with purpose. My heart rate is gradually coming back down to where it should be, which is always a sign things are heading in the right direction. I’m still working on regaining that top-end sharpness, but the consistency is returning, and so is the confidence.
This month reminded me that progress isn’t always linear. Setbacks happen, but they don’t define the story—you do, with how you respond. July was about resilience, rebuilding, and reconnecting with why I love what I do.
Here’s to a stronger August.
